The KC HIV Prevention and Care Planning Council has engaged Smith Brown and Associates to facilitate the 2024 KC Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Needs Assessment.
The next step in the process involves engaging Kansas and Missouri residents living with HIV to complete a survey of their ability to access the services and supports they required to help them meet their health care needs. The survey takes about 30 minutes to complete and is anonymous. The first 200 eligible submitted responses may email Planning Council staff for a $20 gift card.
In January, we will engage in meaningful conversations with service providers and residents to dig deeper into the successes and opportunities from improving services available in our community. Contact us at [email protected] to join a focus group or for a one-on-one interview.

What is the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Needs Assessment?
Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program needs assessment is a process of collecting information about the needs of people with HIV (PWH)—both those receiving care and those not in care. Steps involve gathering data—from multiple sources—on the number of HIV and AIDS cases, the needs of PWH, and current resources (Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and other) available to meet those needs. This information is then analyzed to identify what services are needed and by which groups of PWH.
This survey aims to gather insights into the health and social needs of Kansas City residents affected by HIV. Your responses will help inform improvements to local services, ensuring they meet the needs of those impacted by HIV.
How is my information protected?
Your responses are completely anonymous. We will not collect any identifying information, and your individual responses will not be linked to you in any way. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you may choose to skip any questions following the qualification portion or stop the survey at any time.
What types of questions are asked in the survey?
This survey includes questions related to:
- Your health status and any medical needs related to HIV.
- Social needs such as housing, employment, and support networks.
- The extent and quality of services and supports you’ve received.
Some questions may touch on personal experiences or challenges and may elicit an emotional response. If you find any questions difficult to answer, you are welcome to skip them. If, at any time, you feel distressed or would like mental health support, we encourage you to reach out to:
